There is so much beauty in the avian realm and its a true gift to be able to enjoy it without need for reservations, tickets or even a special occasion to mark the time.  Enjoying our feathered neighbors' gorgeous plumage, and sometimes silly or endearing antics, is an inclusive activity open to all with eyes to see.   

I have spent much of my time wandering the mountains and feeling the same draw of the muse that so inspired John Muir and countless others.  Whether the Rockies, Sierras or Appalachians, the mountains of the United States still call to us as some of the last outposts of the Wild.    

 Spring is a time of renewed growth, energy, color and action.  Feel invigorated as you pass through this gallery. 

 Summertime - the experience of renewal reaches its climax and things do get hot, wet and maybe a little overheated (like bad metaphors). 

 Time for reasonable weather, cool nights lit by fire, color changes, migrations and, of course, pumpkin spice. 

There is no pause for the harsh weather of Winter for wild creatures.  Beauty awaits for those who dare the cold North wind. 

Color and life return to our hemisphere with the promise of new beginnings.

Sweet Summer rains make for lush backdrops.  The haze of wildfires in the far North serve as an eerie warning from the future.
